overwhelming media exhaustion

Hi, Friend-lies.

I hope that everyone had a restful weekend and is ready for the daily grind of the week ahead. I was going through my posts and checking out the blogs I follow and I realized that I haven't been here for a while. Granted, Lexy was sick (I'm thinking cold over molars at this point because the fever is gone and I don't feel or see any teeth, so I take back those horrible things I said about molars ~ for the time being anyway), I'm training 2 new employees at work, dealing with the regular household stuff... but most of all I've been feeling overwhelmed by media. News, TV, papers, magazines, facebook, Internet. It's all the same negative space. Sometimes life sucking in its negative-ness.

I know that a lot of you feel the same way, and I totally get it. I've even taken a mostly-break from facebook for a week or so, so forgive me if I haven't posted or updated and laughed at your status. I check in but don't have the verve to write or post too much at the moment. Maybe once work settles down things will be easier. So, bear with me lovelies. Once I can focus myself to sit and think and breathe this will be the priority that doesn't get dropped. It is supposed to be my quiet time, so I'm going to have to spreadsheet my way back or just remember the quietness and the fact that I have thoughts in my head outside of chiropractic staffing schedules or which Elmo's World video is the one we have seen the least.

I hope you all have a wonderful day. I love you all and I will talk with you soon.

C-

p.s. If anyone would like to write something for me in the meantime to post, just email me. I would love to introduce you all to each other.

  1. Taking a time out from the media is always a good idea. However, I am very attached to my computer these days since being a stay-at-home mom. It keeps me connected with Adults. I don’t have any friends here in SC – not for lack of trying. I have found that when you have kids, you just don’t have the time. I was reading an article in Real Simple magazine on the very thought of having friends and kids.

I am looking for people in my area to connect with – but where I am at, it very rural and I love it. Besides I tend to get along better with males than females. I guess it is just the tomboy in me.

Patti and I have gotten very close. She was the keeper of my little ones while I worked. She called me yesterday and said that we need to take the boys to the park on Friday. That way it will get us all out of the house and give me some adult time and the kids play time. During the summer she only kept mine, so we will be able to do a lot – I am hoping.

What kind of writing did you want us a do, a mini bio? I have some good recipes I can share.

Anyhow – enjoy your break away. I need to get back to my cleaning before the boys get up from their nap.

    Love to you!

  2. It's hard to take time out from the Media. I know it got worse for me last year when I finally got a laptop, said goodbye to dial up, and then joined FB all in the same month. Before I used to never be on my computer at home (mainly because it was downstairs and dial up did take a while). There are times when I have to tell myself to put the computer down and focus on what is in front of me!
It's so easy to get carried away with things that are not important...I have to tell myself to remember to focus on "how important is this"...

Focusing on the importance has helped me a lot with my relationship with 2 young girls and them picking out their own outfits. One of my girls has worn knee high socks with a sundress and sandles for the past two weeks...she looks just silly, but after the first two rounds of us arguing over it for hours and both of us being upset after, I have decided her looking silly isn't that big a deal...

Glad you survived last week. Hopefully things start to get a little easier.

    Kathie
